Azzalure : the new Botox

Azzalure is now available on the French market . Its efficiency on wrinkles is widely praised by beauty specialists. But what is this new product ? And why is it so efficient ?

Azzalure is a new product from  Galderma and Ipsen laboratories .Its molecular base is  the botulinal toxin A ( also known as  Dysport), more famous under the trademark of its rival laboratory Allergan: Botox

Until now in France, Allergan detained the monopoly of the botulinal toxin with its molecule called Vistabel. The growing success  of Botox places it at the top of the aesthetic treatments list with more than ten million people treated over the last ten years. However, the advantages of Azzalure could relegate it to the second rank.

First of all,  Azzalure produces faster visible results because of its stronger concentration : from two to three days after the injection versus one week for Vistabel. In addition, the results are not only equally eficient, they are also more sustainable .On average , the results persists  about one month more than a with classical treatment,i.e around five months. This can be explained by a slower diffusion process of the product that leads to more sustainable effects on muscles.Lastly, another aspect must be taken into account: the limitation of headaches.Indeed, Vistabel have this kind of side effect a few weeks after the injection. The composition of Azzalure, which contains less water, limits forehead muscles swelling by decreasing pressure on the bone.

Nevertheless, Vistabel will continue to be used in certain cases. It will be more effective that its rival on the first wrinkles for example while Azzalure will  be more adapted to the treatment of mature skin and small muscles.

Another important feature of Azzalure is its greater accessibility .The competition between  pharmaceutical companies has led to a fall in prices. This competition is increasing as new molecules appear on the market. However, it is  imperative to be wary of  new products which don't have  commercial authorization .Therefore, you should follow the advice of your aesthetic surgeon .

In France ,only certain doctors have theauthorization to use the botulinum toxin for aesthetic purposes : ophtalmologists, dermatologists, maxillofacial surgeons and of course, plastic surgeons.Aesthetic doctors  (general practionners) are not allowed to use this treatment.
