Breast Ptosis
Breast ptosis
Breast ptosis refers to dropping or sagging of the breast . It is a natural part of the aging process. The chest is too low and empty in the upper part. A ptosis exist or can occur immediately after a significant loss of weight. In most cases, it is a result of pregnancy. Breast volume decreases and ptosis appears. Ptosis can be isolated or associated with hypertrophy or breast hypoplasia (lack of breasts), which will be corrected at the same time. Breast ptosis is a purely aesthetic procedure when isolated. The operation is performed under general anesthesia and takes about 2 hours. It requires one to two days of hospitalization. It consists in moving the nipple and areola upward, removing the excess of skin and reshaping the gland. The length of scars depends of the hypertrophy and ptosis degree (single vertical scar or inverted T-scar).
